Children's Programs

A child's brain thrives on stimulation and develops at a phenomenal pace ... nearly 90% during the first five years of life! Studies prove that the earlier a child learns to read, the better they perform in school and later in life. Early readers have more self-esteem and are more likely to stay in school. It was determined by a national panel of reading specialists and educators that most reading problems could be eliminated if children began reading earlier.

The Jake Epp Library has over 7,000 "easy" books for children in various stages of literacy.  We have every thing from one-word-per-page board books to paragraphed story books.  Our collection also features over 11,000 children's chapter books so that our younger patrons can continue to master the written word.

The Library also offers regular programs to promote children's vocabulary, fine motor skills, social skills, and overall literacy skills.  Any child, from newborn to 6th grade, will find a fun and rewarding program at the Jake Epp Library.
