City residents need to provide proof of residency in order to receive a Library Membership.

Residents of Steinbach pay an annual fee through property taxes for their library services and will not be charged for their initial membership.  If they maintain residence within Steinbach, there will be no charge for renewal of their Library Membership.

Library Memberships are valid for one year from the activation date.  In order to renew a Library Membership, proof of residency will have to be presented in person at the library.  Your library card will remain the same.

Residency may be proven by your Manitoba driver's license with your current address, your latest utility bill, recent rent receipt or a tax bill.  (Only items that list residence or property address and the member's name are considered valid.)

Anyone wishing to become a member must be at least 18 years of age.  Under the age of 18 requires a permission form signed by parent or guardian.

All others applying for membership will need to provide their residential address with township, range, or street information (as applicable).

An annual Household Fee of $80.00 is due before services can be provided.  Every member of the household is entitled to a Library Card once the Household Fee has been paid.

REBATES
RM of Hanover offers a $30.00 rebate to residents applying for a Library Card.  This rebate will be deducted from the Household Fee when your Library Card is issued and every year the card is renewed and the rebate is still offered.
RM of Ste Anne offers a $50.00 rebate to residents applying for a Library Card.  This rebate must be issued directly to you from your RM office after you have paid the full fee.  You will be responsible for the full Household Fee when your Library Card is issued and every year the card is renewed.
These rebates apply only to those residents who pay their property taxes to the respective municipality.  Patrons who pay taxes to a township or city are not elligible.

Not sure which catagory you fit under?  Residency is determined by property tax.

Who do you pay your property taxes to?
